Wild Flower

If you and your family or friends need a private, quiet, peaceful breakaway then Kokopelli is just the place for you.
Kokopelli, a little piece of paradise teeming with life, is an eco farm offering a private, refreshing space to break away in nature. A unique combination between a bush break and a real farm experience, the area with its rich variety of fauna and flora, is nestled in the Magaliesberg Biosphere. This was proclaimed an international UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2015 and forms part of the Bankenveld, one of the most diverse ecosystems in the world.
A variety of bird, frog and butterfly species make their home here, and small buck, baboons, porcupines, monkeys, squirrels and rabbits still roam freely on the farm. Goats, cattle, geese, rabbits and chickens feed off our own sustainable vegetable garden and bees use the goodness in the area to make their miracle nectar. A real bushveld ambience in the evenings around a crackling fire is enhanced by the sound of lions and jackal from surrounding farms, rounded off with a frog chorus and countless stars on a cloudless night.

Located on the farm Buffelsfontein, between Magaliesburg and Rustenburg, our four self-catering units are spaced far enough apart to offer your own little private setting surrounded by bush. Each unit has its own, unique character and view. Walking trails offer incredible views from the ridge and overhanging rock down onto the gorge, then winding through a small piece of indigenous forest and trailing alongside a refreshing stream below. Kokopelli is one of South Africa's handful of pristine spaces left. Sharing this refreshing, natural space and its serene, soulful effects with our guests of all ages is pure joy.

Kokopelli offers three self-catering cottages and a farm house, sleeping 19 guests in total.
Children of all ages are welcome to stay at Kokopelli.
Cleaning service is available on request.
Unless otherwise arranged, check in time is 2pm and check out 10am.
Please note - Access to the farm is not suitable for low-profile vehicles, but normal city cars are fine if you drive carefully and slowly.

Things to do
1. Hike into the kloof to enjoy some stunning views, find the "cove" or a spot on a rock to have a picnic. Follow the path down the kloof along a little stream flowing through indigenous forest. Hike onto the bigger mountain to discover some the ancient stone circles. Historians believe could date as far back as the early Iron Age.
2. Cool down in the farm reservoir. Suntan and relax on the walls, enjoy the lovely view while having a sun-downer.
3. Bring your bike along for a ride on the farm and its surrounding roads.
4. Enjoy the abundant bird life.
5. Our hiking trails are fairly short. There are some easy walks for the not-so-fit. The different routes can be combined for a longer walk. Click here to view the map of the trails.
6. Contact Maria to book a relaxing/rejuvenating massage. (Crano-sacral therapist. Telegram/WhatsApp only: 072 359 4313).
Pet Friendly Policy:
1. Only well socialized and behaved pets will be allowed on the farm.
2. Your pets need to have their own bedding & bowls.
3. Pets are not allowed on top of any of the cottage furniture (indoors or outdoors).
4. Pets must be on the lead when accessing the farm/livestock yard as there are livestock on free range around these areas.
5. Pets are allowed free run on hiking trails only.
6. All cottages have a closed pet enclosure (fence) that can be used to keep your pets inside the cottage area safely.
Bear in mind that there is wild life outside at night (e.g. badgers, porcupine, wild cats, etc.), best to keep your pets contained.
7. No excessive barking of your dogs is tolerated; we fame ourselves for a tranquil and peaceful environment.
8. Livestock (Cattle, goats, chicken etc.) are not for your dog’s entertainment or meal! If they injure/kill you will be held liable for damages – do not underestimate your city dog, its natural predator instinct may kick in when encountering animals on the farm and recall becomes difficult.
9. Do not allow your dogs to approach other guests, they may be scared of dogs and will start a commotion. Please put your dog on a lead if you do encounter other guests.
10. Dog Poo Scoops are provided in every cottage – please be the good pet owner that cleans up after your dogs and put the droppings in the outside dustbin provided.

We hope you and your pets enjoy the farm and its outdoors.
